A Clear and Present Danger

back buttonhome button

Well for those of use who had grave doubts about his Fraudency upholding the constitution and the fate of our freedoms after he stole the election we didn’t have long to wait. While the second week of Cocaine Georgie’s reign of terror entered its second week, he has found a way already to void two our freedoms protected by the Bill of Rights.

Yes with bold abandon the Dimwit announced that he was setting up a bogus Office of Faith Based Initiatives giving it a cabinet like status and endowing a limited liability upon any faith based group that would particupate. In one bumbling moment the moron eliminates our freedom of religion and the right to sue.

Just yesterday I wrote an essay of the American Inquisition and the fact that this fraud of an excuse for president was really the stealth candidate of Pat Robertson and the religious REICH. In it I pointed out that outside of what passes for the religious right today only 9% of the people voted for the moron. Today I was humbled to read an article confirming my conclusion. John Green of the University of Akron put the figure at 8%.

With the creation of his Faith based healing office and his support for vouchers his haughtiness has paid back his puppet masters of the religious right and to hell with our freedoms. One can only wonder when witches will be burnt at the stake again in this country and when gays are stoned to death. But history teaches us that such actions and more results from the mixing of religion and government as the following quotes show.

"I have followed the Church in giving our party program the character of unalterable finality, like the Creed. The Church has never allowed the Creed to be interfered with. It is fifteen hundred years since it was formulated, but every suggestion for its amendment, every logical criticism, or attack on it, has been rejected. The Church has realized that anything and everything can be built up on a document of that sort, no matter how contradictory or irreconcilable with it. The faithful will swallow it whole, so long as logical reasoning is never allowed to be brought to bear on it."

"Loyalty and responsibility toward the people and the Fatherland are most deeply anchored in the Christian faith."

"I believe that I am acting in accordance with the will of the Almighty Creator; by defending myself against the Jews, I am fighting for the Lord."

"My feeling as a Christian points me to my Lord and Savior as a fighter.... In boundless love as a Christian and as a man I read through the passage which tells us how the Lord at last rose in his might and seized the scourge to drive out of the temple the brood of vipers and adders. How terrific was his fight against the Jewish poison. Today, after two thousand years, with deepest emotion I recognize more profoundly than ever before that it was for this that he had to shed his blood on the Cross. As a Christian... I have the duty to be a fighter for truth and justice..."

"I believe today that my conduct is in accordance with the will of the Almighty Creator."

"This human world of ours would be inconceivable without the practical existence of a religious belief."

Those quotes were from Adolph Hitler. Granted perhaps that is an extreme example but the pattern of severe repression follows whenever religion and politics are mixed like the plague. Iran under the Ayatollahs is a recent example of a theocracy and what could be expected.

No those are not unreal expectations of the future as America slouches towards a theocracy. Robertson and others have already suggested stoning of people. These people will stop at nothing nor does there hate know any bounds. During the 1980s a Gospel out reach minister returning from Central America and speaking in the Reagan White House was quoted as follows:

"The Army doesn't massacre the Indians. It massacres demons, and the Indians are demon possessed; they are communist. We hold Brother Efrain Rios Mott like the King of David of the Old Testament. He is the king of the New Testament."

Yes folks the hate of those with god on their side knows no bounds in their blind hatred. And that hate follows a classical pattern first one demonizes the victims followed by harassment and only then followed by murdering them. Make no mistake that Cocaine Georgie is unleashing an American holocaust. And if his ill-begotten proposal is not destroyed we're in for a very bumpy ride in the near future. We have already witnessed the demonization of gays by the likes of Robertson, Fawell and the rest of the ministers of hate.

It is unwise to assume that we as a nation are different and incapable of unleashing a new holocaust. We’re not different the Reagan government supported the good minister that was quoted above. Our papers are filled with hate based crimes. A gay pistol whipped and tied to a fence left to die along in the expanse of Wyoming and a Black man dragged behind a truck in Texas are only two of recent memory. And yes various religions in this country supports both crimes. Why the good minister of God Hates Fags even showed up at the funeral of the Wyoming lad to protest not the crime but the victims sexual orientation. The Identity religion and the religion of choice among klansman, Posse members and the militas preaches hate of all those with lighter skin.

A study concluded in 1964 that can be found in the Politics of Unreason by Simon Lipset and Earl Raab revealed that the amount of prejudice increased with an increasing commitment to religion. Such a finding can only lead to one conclusion religion teaches prejudice and racial hatred. With the growth in far right groups that subscribe to the Identity religion which teaches that those of darker skin are children of Satan racial prejudice has only increased and more polarized than ever.

Nor should such a finding come as a surprise. The churches served as agents of segregation in the south. Even the graveyards were segregated. Often times the good minister of the local church was also the leader of the local Klan. Even in his first run for governor of Georgia Jimmy Carter disagreed with his preacher on the civil rights issue.

Such is the slippery slope of mixing religion and government. The constitution clearly forbids such actions by our Resident in Thief. As the text of the first amendment states:

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise therof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, or the right of the people to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances."

Clearly his Haughtiness proposed office has violated the First Amendment and even more grievously requires everyone to now support religions not of their choosing with their tax dollars. Even more onerous with only a limited liability one cannot even seek redress. But this is not the only limitation on religion in the constitution. In Article VI the following clause is found:

"but no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States."

Such a clause deems his Haughtiness's proposal unconstitutional from the very beginning. By limiting it to faith based organizations his Haughtiness has established a religious test. Atheist would be excluded and discriminated against.

In a Supreme Court decision in Lemon vs Kurtzman, 1971 Justice Burger further refined the constitutional separation of government and religion with three tests.

1. Does the law have a secular purpose?

2. Is the primary effect of the law to advance religion?

3. Does the law fester excessive government entanglements in religion?

Only when these three questions can be answered in the negative does a proposal pass the constitutional test. Now some sharpie may try to equate his Haughtiness’s faith based healing to allowing religious hospitals to accept federal monies. It is this writer’s concerted opinion that giving federal monies to such hospitals is unconstitutional as well even in the payment for services rendered.

Such hospitals routinely refuse to provide abortions and birth control. In effect they are left free to base public policy based on their religious dogma and not on medical science or the law. In many cases no other choices exist for patients. In Portland, Oregon one has only two choices of HMOs; Kaiser and the Sister’s of Providence. For residents of the Oregon’s north coast there is only one hospital available in Seaside which is a member of the Providence organization.

And are these faith based groups and hospitals going to spend all of the federal monies directly on the needy? Or is some of the sum going to be spent on improving or adding facilities? If the answer on the later question is yes then that becomes a direct violation of the second question above unless the religious group has no control over the governing board or ownership what so ever. In increase in the assets of either with a religious group controlling the governing board or ownership would be an advancement of religion.

Another issue arising from Cocaine Georgie’s faith based healing would be who would determine if the group was faith based. Would the Wiccans be allowed to receive funding for their faith based healing? I seriously doubt it yet under our religious freedoms they are just as legitimate religion as is the Southern Baptist, despite the little racist bigot Bob Barr trying to ban the Wiccans from military bases.

And finally there would be no accountability of such groups. In effect his Haughtiness would be turning our tax dollars over with no oversight of the effectiveness or even if the money was being spent properly. This is the same problem plaguing vouchers. From the already failed experience in Wisconsin of vouchers, private schools have accepted the money only to close their doors. The parents of the very students that the program was trying to help are left holding the bag.

Vouchers have had a very sordid pass even if it’s a brief one. Vouchers first began as a response to the Supreme Court ruling in the decision of Brown v. Board of Education. In 1956 Virginia passed a tuition-grant program and in 1960 a scholarship program which provided students with tax dollars for tuition at any qualified non-sectarian school within their district. The express purpose of both bills was to maintain segregation.

The next appearance by vouchers came under the Johnson administration. Under LBJ vouchers would be given to students attending approved schools. The types of schools targeted would give an voucher advocate today heartburn as they were liberal in nature. Only a few schools applied and the program died shortly thereafter.

Vouchers was resurrected from the dead once again in 1980 with the election of Reagan and the rise of the religious right. The express purpose of vouchers contrary to all claims otherwise is and effort to destroy the public education system by the religious right as the following quote by Fawell states.

"I hope...to see the day when...in...our country we won't have any public schools. The churches will have taken them over and Christians will be running them. What a happy day that will be!"

There is absolutely no validity to the claim vouchers improve a students test scores. In fact the Wisconsin experience has shown after five years there was no improvement in test scores. In fact the whole argument that the public education system is in shambles is bogus. Nothing could be further from the truth. Our schools lead the world despite the claims of the right.

Call it an ill omen. But on the very day that Cocaine Georgie proposed his faith based healing the wires carried a story from Greewood South Carolina about Rev. Fernando Garcia. The good reverend pleaded guilty to sexually abusing children and sentenced to 60 years behind bars.Garcia said as a boy he had been abused by a priest. Police had found 26 videotapes of him moleesting children. Such reports of sexual abuse of children at the hands of priests and ministers has became all too common place. Further reports about religious based correctional facilities abound with reports of criminal physical abuse resulting in even death. Making his Haughtiness's proposal of faith based healing with only limited liability a risk few would take.

No, we are now facing a clear and present danger to our freedoms in this country from an American Inquisition lead by Cocaine Georgie’s puppet masters. Do not think for a single moment that you can avoid becoming a victim. His Haughtiness’s appointment to Attorney General supported a bill that would have legalized the murder of nurses and doctors who performed abortions by labeling those murder’s justifiable homicide. Pat Robertson have condemned Hinduism as demonic and would ban Hindus from the country. He and other leaders of the religious right have condemned gays and feminism. Under the religious right women would become second class citizens, virtual slaves to their husbands.

Yes, his Haughtiness has only been Resident in Thief for less than two weeks, but the has already thrashed our freedom of religion. At the moment about the only positive thing that can be said so far about his administration is he hasn’t started a war or declared marital law yet, but give him time. Remember you have the power to stop this American Inquisition. Refuse and Resist
